What is the GDPR Privacy Policy?

What data is being collected? (and how did we get it)
We will be collecting:
Personal details such as date of birth, NI number and UTR number.
Communication details such as your address, telephone and mobile numbers and email address.
Employment details including profession, employment history, pay & tax details and work related expenses and activities. If applicable we will also collect data about received pensions, benefits and other sources of income.
Finally we will collect your bank account details for payout of your refund.
Collected data will come directly from you, from HM Revenue & Customs and in some cases from your employers.
What is the legal basis for processing the data?
Processing your data is absolutely necessary to enable Bettertax to provide you with the service that you have contracted us to perform.
This includes:
Managing your record and providing you with customer service.
Contacting you regarding the service that we are contracted for.
Dealing with any complaints.
Will the data be shared with any third parties?
No. Bettertax never have and never will share your data with any third parties. We will only share your data with HM Revenue & Customs in order to provide contracted services.
How long will the data be stored for?
We will hold your data for as long as we are contracted to perform the service. In the event of termination of the contract we will hold your data up to 5 years from the date of last submitted tax return, this is mandatory by law.
What rights does the data subject have?

The right to rectify your data.
The right of erasure of your data.
The right to restrict processing of your data.
The right to portability of your data.
The right to object.
The right not to be subject to automated decision-making (profiling).
