In June 2019 it was decided that the normal Monday Early May bank holiday would be changed to Friday 8th May, to coincide with and celebrate 75 years of VE day – Victory in Europe.
VE Day marked the end of the 2nd World War in Europe, 1945. That image is of the celebrations in Trafalgar Square – my Mum might be in there somewhere.
I don’t know about you but I only found out about this change the other day. The day was also changed to Friday in 1995, to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
It’s good that we remember. I am surprised there hasn’t been more notification of the change as it can affect long weekend arrangements. My diary still shows Monday as the bank holiday! OKOK, it is a cheap one.
Whatever you do or how you spend the long weekend, stay safe and long may peace go on.
