Each year on April 6th the tax codes change to reflect the new personal allowance that an individual can earn before tax is deducted. The standard rate tax code for 2017 - 2018 is 1150L which means you can earn £11500 before tax.

You can find your tax code on your payslip, P60, P45 and HMRC send a letter notifying you of your new code.

If it is not the standard code, we can help sort that out for you, if you are one of our clients - it's all part of our service! However, HMRC don't inform us of your code so please let us know as soon as you see any changes. Otherwise, call HMRC or speak to whoever sorts your pay out.

If you are on an incorrect code you could find yourself paying either too much or too little tax so check to make sure yours is correct!

Just so you know, here is a note of previous codes:

2016 - 2017 1100L

2015 - 2016 1060L
